Quality control

Kavir steel possesses unrivalled reputation for quality in the domestic market, while being accepted and admired internationally. As core values of the KSC code of conduct, the ever-growing process standardization and quality assurance are manifested in the implementation of a number of international standards including CE, IATF, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 21001, ISO 17025, and also DIN 10080 for constructional products.

The laboratory of kavir steel, in line with its mission statement and organizational goals as well as meeting the needs of the complex is active on two fronts: a test-orientated and product-orientated laboratory. The laboratory holds a 17025 certificate, and has been acting in conjunction with the Institute of Standards and Industrial Research of Iran for many years. All types of tensile strength and hardness tests, in addition to chemical analysis, bending, sample preparation, and metallography –among other tests—are conducted in this laboratory using the best and most advanced foreign and domestic testing equipment. Furthermore as well as the laboratory is also active in conducting all types of relevant tests on various products manufactured by the complex, in addition to running the relevant tests on raw materials and quality control of foreign and domestic parts. The Kavir steel Complex as well as relies on the laboratory to honor its corporate social responsibilities (CSR), which includes conducting tests for various foreign customers, other companies and organizations. Looking ahead, the laboratory plans on further development, extension, and addition of several advanced equipment concurrent with the launch of the steel manufacturing project and the modification of the rolling line—paving the way to be recognized as one of the most advanced laboratories in steel manufacturing and metallurgy.

Main activities of the Quality Control Unit

  • Activities related to the quality of raw material and finished products
  • Activities related to the production process control Activities related to the statistical quality control of the products to improve quality
  • Activities related to handing customer complaints and needs of the sales department
  • Attending the raw materials suppliers' meetings
  • Assessing the technical information and documents of the steel ingots upon entrance (entrance scale)
  • Inspecting and filing reports on the production of early samples of newly-arrived steel ingots in order to make a final decision on purchase
  • Approval or disapproval of steel ingots repurchase using the MIS system
  • Notifying suppliers, through the procurement management, of all cases of non-conformity of goods and the problems arising during the manufacturing process, in addition to issues and complaints regarding the finished product stemming from the ingot
  • Preparing qualitative statistical reports on the condition of incoming raw materials
  • Defining the various quality control processes for the products with different quality conditions in order to fulfill customers' needs
  • Registering all information related to manufactured products, including test results and other relevant information regarding product tracking
  • Attending the technical meetings with customers and receiving their feedback, and notifying the relevant units and authorities regarding the aforementioned feedbacks in order to constantly improve the products
  • Notifying the operational units of the particular quality specifications of the customers
  • Assessing the various customer complaints and analyzing the results in order to improve product quality
  • Satisfying the needs of the sales departments, including presenting various certificates in English and sending specific samples for testing
  • Conducting feasibility studies on new product lines and notifying the sales department of the results
