Countries use various methods, in today's competitive world, to acquire and promote technology. While the ultimate goal of technology acquisition and transfer in the developing countries is the absorption and localization of technological know-how, it seems that such aim is sometimes not achieved due to some obstacles.
Despite some obstacles in Iran for localization as in other developing countries, such issue is of quite importance due to specific conditions. It could perhaps be said that the condition for the survival of organizations today in the way to localization is the notion of development. Thus, at the time of the establishment of Kavir Steel Complex, a contract was concluded with a credited company for reverse engineering to localize the components and equipment of the production line. Initially, all the consumable parts of the production line were prioritized for localization before being installed. This process has continued with the focus of the technology department (technical and engineering office) in Kavir Steel Complex since 2009 to date and nearly 7,000 engineering pieces have undergone reverse engineering and considered for production so that they have been under operation by eliminating shortcomings and continuous improvements.
