Steel Kavir Water Processing Plant
In March 2023, Steel Kavir launched its Water Processing Plant with the goal of completely eliminating groundwater extraction. Before this project, the company’s water needs were supplied through two saline-water wells. However, with the commissioning of this plant, the water supply approach entered a new phase—one based on wastewater recycling using advanced and up‑to‑date technologies.
Steel Kavir has signed an official contract with the Kashan Wastewater Treatment Plant to purchase 90 liters per second of the city’s wastewater capacity. Currently, about 30 liters per second of this volume is transferred through an 18‑kilometer pipeline to meet the needs of the production lines.
Wastewater treatment is carried out using the advanced MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) technology. In this stage, nanometric membranes combined with biological processes make it possible to treat domestic wastewater to a level comparable to distilled water. This technology has been used for the first time in the country on an industrial scale by Steel Kavir.
The experience of implementing this project—resulting from the combination of local technical expertise with international industrial treatment know‑how, including previous collaborations with Italian companies—has now become a successful model for sustainable industrial water supply without dependence on natural resources.
